About
Aizhana Nurkenova is a British-Kazakh composer and pianist whose work spans film, television, opera, and the concert stage. Recent highlights include Ether, selected for La Cinef at the 78th Cannes Film Festival (2025), and the award-winning audio drama The Great Goose Migration, which received a Gold Medal at the New York Radio Festival. Her music has been performed and broadcast internationally, from the UK and Italy to Kazakhstan and Australia.

Aizhana is currently completing advanced studies in composing for screen at the National Film and Television School (NFTS). She previously trained in piano performance at the Royal Academy of Music, where she earned a Master’s degree and the prestigious Hodgson Piano Fellowship. Praised by International Piano Magazine for performances described as “exhilarating” and “singing to heaven,” she brings the same depth and expressive range to her compositions. Aizhana combines musical craftsmanship with a deep respect for storytelling, creating music that resonates on both emotional and intellectual levels.​
