About
Aizhana Nurkenova is an award-winning composer and pianist whose work spans film, television and the concert stage. Her recent work has received international recognition, with two documentaries she scored – Corps à Cœur (Body to Heart) and I Want to Live – named finalists for the 2026 Student Academy Awards. Other recent highlights include Ether, selected for La Cinef at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, and the audio drama The Great Goose Migration, which won Gold at the New York Festivals Radio Awards.
With a deep passion for storytelling, Aizhana combines classical craftsmanship and orchestral scoring with a modern musical language, incorporating synth textures and unconventional sound.
Aizhana holds a Master’s degree in Composing for Film and Television from the National Film and Television School, where she was a PRS Foundation Scholar. She also completed an MA in Piano Performance at the Royal Academy of Music and was awarded the prestigious Hodgson Piano Fellowship. Praised by International Piano magazine as “exhilarating” and “singing to heaven”, she brings the same depth and expressive range to her screen compositions.
